The CTT present this Tuesday, October 22, a philatelic issuance of three stamps and a block with a stamp on the Three Kings, with a unique feature in the world: the stamp of the philatelic block, has led light on the star. where a light-emitting diode is inserted, which is activated via a mobile phone with NFC technology.
According to Raúl Moreira, CTT's Philately Director, “CTT has the fame and benefit of finding absolute novelties in the postage stamp chapter every year. This year the news will be the presentation of a stamp with an included LED lamp, which happens for the first time in the world in philately. ”
The seals of this issue correspond to each of the Magi known. Paulo Mendes Pinto states that “the names were given by Beda the Venerable (673-735), who must have systematized various traditions, stating that Belchior was a 70-year-old man with white hair and beards from Ur, as Abraham that Gaspar was a young, robust man who had come from a distant mountainous region by the Caspian Sea; and that Baltazar was from the Persian Gulf, had a beard and was 40 years old. ”
Gold as a symbol of royalty, incense as a symbol of divinity, and myrrh as a symbol of passion, were the offerings of the Magi to the Messiah, whose birth was indicated by a star, a symbol of that royalty. “The symbolic center is, of course, the Light. It is the star that guides these Magi; It is the star that will mark the birthplace of the One who will bring the Light into the world. Coming from afar to pay tribute to the new King, the Magi come to receive the Light, ”as Paulo Mendes Pinto says on the page of this issue.
This issue consists of three stamps with a face value of € 0.53, € 0.86 and € 0.91 and a circulation of 100 000 copies each, as well as a block with a stamp worth € 3.50 and a circulation of 50 000 copies. The design of the stamps was done by Jorge Macedo, from Infolio Design.
